Elul and Rosh Hashana Newspaper

Shalom Parents of CTA lower school,

At CTA we have been very busy this past month.  Here are some of the activities we have been doing:
- The school year began with a blast (a shofar blast that is)!  We started our regular classes in Chumash, Navi, and Mishna while focusing this past month on Elul and Rosh Hashana.
- When you walk into the hallways of the school, you can feel the month of Tishrei surrounding you with the colorful decorations and student projects on the walls.
- Throughout the month of Elul, the students heard the blasts of the shofar and learned about the powerful lessons from it.  Some of us even blew the shofar (and succeeded!) from tekiah, shevarim and truah.
- Just before Rosh Hashana, we had a “Seder” in our classes where we tasted pomegranates, dates, carrots and, of course, apples and honey.
- The kindergarteners got to bake delicious, traditionally-shaped, rounded challot in honor of the New Year.
- We prepared large size Rosh Hashana cards for different synagogues and made various arts and crafts projects for the holidays.
- All of the students went to the stream behind the school for Tashlich
- Our students joined the upper school for pre- chag dancing and “ruach” to start the year on a happy note!

I want to wish you all a healthy and happy New Year,
     G’mar Chatimah Tova,
